Emotions, Thoughts and feelings
I intend to share a few things about feelings and how they differ from emotions and thoughts. I will by no means attempt to go into the full detail that is possible on this topic for that would take many pages and much explanation which I am sure just now I would find a bit laborious.
This topic is in many ways what this whole web site is about—in terms of the word "feal" that I used. My dialog with Spirit revealed to me that FEAL was an indication that the link or doorway to Forever Expanding Awareness in Liberation was through what we feal. It is spelt with only one 'e' and an 'a' in replace of the other 'e' normally in the word 'feel'. This indications that to get in touch with our feelings we must cut back on the about of 'e'-motion and bring in more 'a'-wareness.
Emotions and thoughts are both part of the illusion. They both, when we identify with them, bind us into the illusion. Thoughts and emotions are not, in my experience and understanding, all that dissimilar to each other. Thoughts arise from emotions. Emotions are literally energy in motion (e-motion) in our subtle energy bodies. We pick up on those energies just as we pick up on energy in motion within the world we perceive around us. Both are ultimately a projection from the ego-mind, with our consent of course.
It is this 'with our consent' part that brings an interesting point up. This is something I am still exploring and may develop further over time. The point is that what we experience as emotions have no real existence in that way we perceive them to have. They are simply the Light of God —which comes in through I AM as an extension of God—qualified by by thoughts and beliefs and what we perceive as residual past experiences. Many of the thought-forms and beliefs in a person field of consciousness come, in fact, from the field of the collective consciousness (and unconsciousness) of the society in which we live. There are many layers from which these thought-forms and beliefs arise. For instance there is a morphogenetic field set up through your immediate family, your extended family, your community, any religious group(s) you are identified with, your close relationships, the city you live in, the country you live in and ultimately the rest of the world—humanity as a whole. These are all part of the Illusion.
What this implies is that thoughts and feelings are not original, are essentially nothing personal, and are a trap when we identify with them. Yet as they are part of what you and I are co-creating within our experience of the Illusion it is important we don't get into denying and disassociating from the experience of the emotions that arise within us. Yes, by all means deny the false interpretation your ego makes of each thought and emotion, but the direct experience of the emotional and mental content of your human Mind is, in my understanding, only transcended when it is embraced as Sacred, seen for what it is (a nothing-ness appearing as something) and released. This does not necessarily mean going into a cathartic process over it—yet it also doesn't exclude that possibility. What ever way you can best directly experience the emotions and thoughts that arise is the path to choose in any given moment.
Quite aside from emotions and thoughts there are what I, and others, refer to as feelings. I have for many years experience emotions and feelings as quite different and in my experience it helps to relate to them as different. I know most people would say they are the same thing but I would say either they have not been discerning enough over which is which or they simply have very feel real feelings and mostly experience and get caught up in various emotions.
For most human beings I would say that the feeling world is veiled by their emotional world and experience. Hence we have to calmly pass through our emotional world in order to tap into the level of feeling. This is why ignoring and suppressing emotions can be rather disastrous. Not because there is anything special or important about emotions—which a lot of the New Age movement and many healers try to make out—but rather it is because they can shroud our connection to the deeper feelings that arise within the human experience.
Feelings to me are a doorway to that which goes beyond this world of form and illusion. True feelings, in a sense, come direct from the I AM and hence from God because the I AM is simply as extension of God, or the 'Son of God' to put it into Christian lingo. Feelings may take on various forms. For me I generally experience them simply as a known. I simply feel or know what's what in regards to whatever it is I am having various feelings about. It is also, I think, possible for them to come up as visions and inwardly heard words. But I would be inclined to suggest being rather discerning about whether these really are feelings or just life-taking spirits plugging various thoughts into your mind or visions into your perceptional pathways. I find that deep knowing is not, in my experience, subject to any form of interference because it is not of this world (or the other unseen worlds). The main way feelings get interfered with is through the emotions and thoughts that arise and cloudy up the waters so to speak.
Much of the control that goes on here in the world is played out through manipulating the thoughts and emotions of the individual and mass conscious of humanity or certain portions of humanity. It is rather easy with the right knowledge and technologies to manipulate thoughts and emotions. Those that are identified with their thoughts and emotions—which is the majority of people on this planet—are then subject to this form of control. If you have moved through the emotions and thought-forms that are lurking around in your psyche, and transcended them through Love and Forgiveness, then you will have seen emotions and thoughts for what they are and ceased identifying with them. Having achieved this you make a substantial step toward pulling out of the illusion and pulling out of the influence of the systems here in this world that attempt to control people and use their energy. You can read more about this in the article 'Out of Control'.
So feelings are a whole different ball game from thoughts and emotions. Thoughts and emotions are an integral part of the human body at an energy level. Feelings come from somewhere else as far as your human mind is concerned. I say this because everything is non-local and holographic in nature and hence everything is right here and now. But this is not the world the ego-mind lives in so from it's perspective I can say that 'feelings come from somewhere else'.
The space in which we most easily unveil our awareness of feelings is a place of deep stillness within. This place of stillness is again shrouded by all the crap floating around at the level of thoughts and feelings. So again, we are going to have to step through that veil if we are going to be aware of the stillness within. Once aware of that stillness then feelings will simply be there waiting for you to give them your awareness and 'act out their directives'. I say 'act out their directives' because once I started to give the attention of my awareness to feelings I found that it's as if I get directed on how to live out my live from moment to moment. It all happens here in the NOW and hence there is no past of future involved. The past and future only step in when thoughts/emotions have again started to muddle things up and stand between my awareness and the feelings that I am aware of.
If you wish to set yourself free it is going to be absolutely necessary that you do whatever it takes to clear out the beliefs (thought forms - crystallised thought patterns) and emotions (liquid thoughts might be one way to define that) and start to cultivate the experience of being in the Peaceful stillness within you. From that stillness fealings will become apparent to you. I won't say they 'arise' or 'come in' because they were always there exactly as they are. They do not change for they are, in a sense, like the changeless Vision of God. You have simply all this time denied and missed being aware of them in your day-to-day experience of what you have come to call 'life'. When you start to become aware of them again you will in a sense pick up on God's Vision where you last left off. This is the linear experience of The Vision that will take place when you're still identified with linear reality—whereas in fact the Vision is all right here now, but that's not how we experience it until we step out of the illusion. So for now you'll pick up where you apparently left of and start walking like a Warrior of Light (just to throw some fun New Age mumbo jumbo in there) through the Mind of God which will lead you back to God.
Of course the whole notion of 'going back to God' is also part of the illusion. It is simply your experience that is going to seem to be returning to God. You have in fact never left God for that is not possible despite that fact we have dreamed up that false belief rather vividly. So what we refer to and experience as the journey back to God is in fact the inverted experience of releasing our attachment to that which is not God—the ego-mind projections within the Illusion. This is an example of how things are all back-to-front in the illusion.
I trust this will all make sense after you read over it a few times and allow it to sink in.
With love,
Jonathan
PS. I was just looking something up in a dictionary. I came across the word 'feel' and decided to see what the status quo had to say about it. I then looked up 'emotion' to see how that is defined. The definition of these two words actually is in some ways rather accurate in that they have always been described as different things or sometimes as different extremes of the same thing. I might perhaps add that the reasons emotions lead us to feelings is that emotions are the mental interpretation of 'inner' feelings and our experience of the 'outer' illusion. Of course there really is no 'inner' and 'outer' but in terms of our human experience there is that differentiation. So as long as we are caught up in emotions—either through denial or attachment (which are really two sides of the same coin)—then we will remain too stirred up and 'internally noisy' to discern the underlying feelings we are having.
.Here is what the dictionary had to say:
Emotion
\E*mo"tion\, n. [L. emovere, emotum, to remove, shake, stir up; e out + movere to move: cf. F. ['e]motion. See Move, and cf. Emmove.] A moving of the mind or soul; excitement of the feelings, whether pleasing or painful; disturbance or agitation of mind caused by a specific exciting cause and manifested by some sensible effect on the body.
- A mental state that arises spontaneously rather than through conscious effort and is often accompanied by physiological changes;
- A state of mental agitation or disturbance: spoke unsteadily in a voice that betrayed his emotion.
Usage: Emotion, Feeling, Agitation. Feeling is the weaker term, and may be of the body or the mind. Emotion is of the mind alone, being the excited action of some inward susceptibility or feeling; as, an emotion of pity, terror, etc. Agitation may the bodily or mental, and usually arises in the latter case from a vehement struggle between contending desires or emotions. See Passion. ``Agitations have but one character, viz., that of violence; emotions vary with the objects that awaken them. There are emotions either of tenderness or anger, either gentle or strong, either painful or pleasing.'' --Crabb.
Feel
- To perceive by the mind; to have a sense of; to experience; to be affected by; to be sensible of, or sensitive to
- To take internal cognizance of; to be conscious of; to have an inward persuasion of.
- To perceive; to observe
- To be conscious of an inward impression, state of mind, persuasion, physical condition, etc.
- To know with feeling; to be conscious; hence, to know certainly or without misgiving.
